“I am Marius from Austria and in summer 2024 I had the opportunity to do an internship at Ísponica. Since I first saw an aquaponic system, I was eager to learn more about this specific symbiosis between plants, bacteria and fish. As a result, me and two classmates and friends of mine, decided that our diploma thesis will be about aquaponics.

Therefore, we decided to do small internships at different aquaponic companies all over Europe, to learn more about this amazing topic. All of a sudden, we landed in Iceland at Ísponica. Iceland is a beautiful country and a very remote place in the north Atlantic, but this can be a problem too. Due to the harsh climate, it is difficult to grow vegetables outdoors effectively and that is when aquaponics comes into play. While I was working at Ísponica, I gathered a lot of interesting and important information and learned how to manage and cultivate plants in an aquaponics business in Iceland. Additionally, I was able to make some new friends and learn something from people all over the world. Furthermore, I was writing on parts on our research report, and I could learn some further interesting facts, according to aquaponics in Iceland and all over the world.”
