Interested in seeing how goldfish aquaponics can work?
Today we received the news that the project titled “BLUE&GREEN” was funded through Erasmus! The project will focus on sustainable agriculture with an emphasis on aquaponics and vertical farming. This is a partnership with Fthia in Action, HLUW Yspertal and Ísponica.
Ísponica is proud to announce that we have received a grant for the project “Circular Aquaculture in Hofsós: Arctic charr aquaponics at Ísponica”, as part of the Women’s Employment Fund (Atvinnumál kvenna).
The grant supports the salaries of two university student researchers to explore different methods of mushroom production and growing basil in aquaponic systems.
Ísponica and the Department of Aquaculture and Fish Biology of Hólar University receive a grant for the student project “Cultivating oyster mushrooms in aquaponic systems.”
How can we repurpose existing and/or unused structures for local food production? There is great potential to look within our own communities and use resources that are already available!
The article explains a brief history of the barn, the goals of Ísponica, and a few photos from back in July/August 2021.
